Substance Abuse (A.A. & B.S.)

The Substance Abuse Counseling Program is an Approved Institution of Higher Education Provider for the Louisiana State Substance Abuse Certification Board. All SUNO, Substance Abuse classes, can be applied toward certification. The program equips students for professional careers and graduate studies. The goal of the Substance Abuse Program is to provide comprehensive academic opportunities for students in a variety of practice arenas including prevention, treatment and research. Substance Abuse degrees available are: (1) Bachelor of Science Degree; (2) Associate of Arts Degree; and (3) the Certificate of Completion. A minor requires successful completion of 18 semester hours. The following courses are necessary for the minor 215, 310, 321, 325, 425, and one elective.
