My background experiences include but not limited to a twenty years career from 1975-1995 in Corporate America as a data entry specialist and Remittance Processor in customer service, for New Orleans Public Service which later became Entergy. In 2010 Entergy rehired me part-time where I cashier in Customer service. After leaving the company in 1995 I returned to school to continue my education in fall of 1995-spring 1999 where I earned a bachelor’s in Psychology with a concentration in Art from Dillard University of New Orleans. I graduated 4th in the top of my class with a 3.0 GPA, and was instrumental in creating a literacy program for the low income families living in government public housing. I then, worked in Tulane/DePaul Psychiatric ward where; I conducted expressive art therapy classes for the mentally and emotionally challenged and charted patient observations, for Psychiatric physicians. In 2002, I began to nurture my creative side by receiving recognition for my artistic capabilities where I exhibited some of my paintings printmaking, quilting, and several published articles in the editorial of the Times Picayune newspaper. My career aspirations are to take the tools that I acquired in the Museum Studies Program from Southern University at New Orleans rightfully divided my background, personal, professional, and life experiences to create interpretive ethnography that are beneficial, self-fulfilling, educate able, researchable and comprehensive to the general Public. |
My ongoing research includes but not limited to the revival of the Isleῆos lost cultural experiences. My intern at the Louisiana Landmark Society Pitot House project was both satisfying and rewarding because I was afforded the opportunity of extensive research to create a disaster plan manual for the Pitot House, and I am presently working on a security plan that is nearing a successful completion with some help from the head of security from the Cabildo, and elected a committee member for the Christmas 2011 gala, and I am still a volunteer. Part time employee at Entergy in customer service. In 2002, when I lost a son to gun violence on the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana which catapult me into several roles community leader/activist/advocate/public speaker for families affected by violence. I received media coverage for my active roles in both the news and documentaries. In 2006, I received recognition for being the first African American female to complete the intense Chaplain training program, which included sixteen weeks of on call volunteering at East Jefferson General Hospital when the city was still in crisis from the devastations of the Katrina/Rita hurricanes. In 2008, I received recognition in the Times Picayune newspaper for designing and created a Mardi Gras soft throw that was featured in the Zulu Mardi Gras Parades. In the summer of 2010, I taught sewing lessons for NORD New Orleans Recreational Department to the economically challenged population, and at-risk youths. |

The decision to enter the Graduate Program in Museum Studies at Southern University at New Orleans is a continuing journey to participate in art and history related initiatives. I hold a 1976 Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. By challenging my capabilities via a focused educational program, the desire to explore community museums and their conservation efforts is a source of inspiration. Upon supplementing my studies with many visitations to local museum events, it has expanded my knowledge and understanding of the significance of museums. Vigorously serving the community, a museum is an extension of our daily life experiences. For example, the artifacts represented range from culinary significance to cultural diversity.

|
My past achievements have been primarily in sales production with an overall work ethic to be protective of the core values of the business I currently serve and the mission statements of the businesses that I have served. As an advocate for the promotion of business, it developed into a proactive mission to orient individuals to museum goals. Museums are a source of enjoyment, education, and historical preservation. Beginning with good stewardship, my experience is generally in a supportive position to execute projects and meet objectives. Likewise in my museum studies, I have a passion for advocacy of aesthetics, history and culture. My devoted art appreciation is ceramics, drawing, and abstract painting. A summer internship has afforded me the opportunity to utilize my drawing talent and meticulous documentation skills that are imperative to the identification and recordation of material culture and the artists that produced the work. An aspiration for this semester course work is to combine the visitation experiences with practical knowledge and theory in order to gain more insight of a museum’s ability to appeal to the public and educate the community which serves the need to represent humanity. |

I am married to my wife Betty Ann for 48 yrs. we have 4 sons. I am a 2004 graduate of SUNO. I earned a B. A.degree in History, 18 hrs. Busines and 18 hrs. Spanish. I am currently enrolled in the Museum Studies Masters Program at SUNO. After graduation I plan to open a Space Museum and Education Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Having worked for Chrysler Corporation Space Division at NASA'S Michoud Facility I had the unique opportunity to be transferred to my company's operation at Cape Kennedy , Florida. While there I was employed as a Stage Monitor on Launch Complex 39. There I had a hands on and birds-eye iew of the Rockets used for the Skylab launches which preceded the Space Station and Space Shuttle launches. In fact, the lunar landing rocket was built at the Michoud Facility. |
New Orleans and its NASA Michoud Facility had a major role in Space Exploration and I wany my Space Museum and Education Center to tell the story of this participation. Space Exploration led to all types of new technology in science, medicine and weather reporting. Future generations will know and benefit from the progams I plan to exhibit at this Space Museum and Education Center. |
