Dr. Boppreceived his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of New Orleans in 1974.  Bopp’s current interests include developing interdisciplinary classroom materials for a “Chemistry and Art” course and ultimately evolving into spectrophotometric techniques to aid in studying and conserving objects of art.  Dr. Bopp’s career also includes experience in research and development in government and corporate settings and he is currently active in the Louisiana Section of the American Chemical Society.

Dr. Carl P. Johnson

Dr.Johnson is an experienced teacher and researcher who received his B.S. from Alabama State University (1989) and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama (1995). He did his postdoctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh, and has worked in industry (W.R. Grace Chemicals, Deer Park, TX) for several years.  Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Chemical Society, Beta Kappa Chi and National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers.

Dr. Johnson has served on numerous campus wide committees, and he has received funding for numerous grants. He is a co-author and co-project manager for the NSF-HBCUUP sponsored grant - Enhancement, Enrichment, and Excellence in Mathematics and Science (E3MaS).  His research interest is in the synthesis and characterization of large-cavity calixarene compounds for supramolecular studies.
