Bomb Threat

Call 911 to report a bomb threat, then call 286-5290 to inform Campus Police immediately after receiving a bomb threat. Complete the requested information in as much detail as possible, and provide this form to Campus Police or the New Orleans Police Department upon their arrival.

If a bomb threat is received via e-mail on your computer, save the message and notify the Southern University Police Department at 286-5290 immediately.

The Campus Police Department, in general, does not recommend that buildings be evacuated as a result of bomb threats. This, however, does not prohibit evacuation under certain circumstances. Each bomb threat is evaluated on its own merit. All threats should be taken seriously. Factors to be considered in a decision to evacuate include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Nature of the Message Received
Urgency Whether the call was placed on or off campus Exactness Plea Specific location within the building Any specific description of the device Guidance from the New Orleans Police Department
Status of Current Turmoil
National and local scene Personal vendetta
