In light of our nation's heightened precautions in response to the threat of additional terrorist attacks SUNO has taken many proactive measures to upgrade the level of security on campus.  Some of these measures will be obvious to the campus community.  Other measures present internal steps taken by the university police to increase preparedness, and while these measures may not be as obvious to the community, they are nonetheless essential in assuring overall safety for our campus citizens.

 

• There is an increase presence of University Police officers at all public events on campus, especially those that might attract persons outside our immediate campus community.
• Security protocol at public events may be increased to include metal detection and pat downs when appropriate.
• The University Police are working closely with Local and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies and Fire Department, that State Police and their specialized agencies such as the Hazardous Materials Team, and other agencies as necessary to assure a coordinate and swift response to assistance calls.
