AN INSTITUTION OF THE COMMUNITY
Southern University at New Orleans was opened for the people by the people. It has been instilled in SUNO students and graduates to use their higher learning experience to build and maintain their respective communities as well as uplift people.
Communities have to look only as far as SUNO alumni and our academic programs to see that commitment. Life changers have roamed our campus; and they have dotted the landscape of New Orleans and beyond thanks to the dedicated service of the School of Social Work, the College of Education & Human Development, Arts and Humanities, SUNO’s Social Sciences, Fine Arts, and the Natural Sciences. Today Southern University at New Orleans continues to work diligently to provide communities with more world changers through the College of Business and Public Administration.
More graduates tell stories of how being a Knight changed their lives. Whether SUNO provided the change of scenery they needed in higher learning or whether the University let them know that “age is nothing but a number” when it comes to education, many have come to feel empowered by receiving Southern University at New Orleans degrees.
As proud as the University is of its graduates, those who truly matter are the current students. This is where we invite you to be a part of maintaining a rich tradition of education that goes beyond books and credit hours.
Here is to another 50 years, and beyond, of Southern University at New Orleans, an institution for the people by the people.
