Southern University at New Orleans is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor, and Master degrees. Reaffirmation of accreditation was achieved in December 2000 as a result of the third Self-Study that was completed in March 2001. The University is preparing for its 2011 reaffirmation of accreditation.
The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
The College of Education and Human Development is approved by the Louisiana Department of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
